Wine estate & guesthouse Rosenbaum
The Rosenbaum wine estate is located in the 11pt, pituresque village of Briedel on the middle course of the Mosel River, Briedel has a long history of wine-making and is famous for its 'Briedeler-Herzchen' vineyards.
The Mosel area is regarded as the top quality Riesling wine producing region in the world. The steep slate slopes of the valley, which date back to the Devon era, are oriented to the South and Southwest offer the ideal conditions for the Riesling vine.
The slate soil is composed of grey and blue clay slate soil that is rich in minerals. The soil is formed from eroded slate mixed with blue and black slate stones which warms up quickly during the day and disperses the day’s heat during the cooler nights. The Mosel River acts as a reservoir for warmth and moisture to form a special micro climate. Our northern region is ideal for producing Riesling wines, which are regarded as the fruitiest and most aromatic of all wines.
The vegetation period, blossom to harvesting, is longer than that of the hot southern regions, thus allowing the Riesling vine to build up and store more of the fragances and aroma ingredients-compounds which give the Mosel Riesling wine its unique character.
